Guten Abend zusammen,

More early morning Summer adventure.
I told her that early birds get the worm.
Summer says early doggos get the beach adventure.
She knew as soon as we hopped out of bed that today was the day.
She fetched my hat and shoes while I started the coffee maker.
Much fun.
We were so early the wildflowers weren't open yet.
If all keeps going well we will get back on track adventuring five days a week.
We both understand our priorities though.

Yes, I think it's only a matter of time before I ditch my Facebook account. I only use it to keep up with other #BeardedCollie owners. Except Facebook won't even let me post on people's statuses anymore, so what good is it, anyway. #DogsOfMastodon #Dogs #BeardedCollies

Summer knows just what to do.
After her pal finished a chocolatey milkshake Summer decided to move in for a hug.
A Summer hug is even better than chocolate so I hear from a reliable source.
Hopefully we enjoy a quiet and relaxing rest of the evening.

We are all feeling out of sync.
Summer and I were up with her pal at three in the morning and were wide awake when he drifted back to dreamland.
Seemed like a good time to brew coffee and plan our day.
We agreed to trade off being in charge of her pal's care team.
I was at the hospital all day yesterday so she offered to cover today.
I will work on logistics and she can be comforter in chief.
Lots of phone calls to make coordinating the sharing of information between medical providers. Not to mention mountains of laundry. As much as I don't like disposable stuff I might have to bend a little. Here and there for now.
Summer is on her game and getting things done in the comforting arena. She is such a good girl.
Good morning, Mastodon.

Yeah, so this summer broke my dog. A week of intermittant fireworks, followed by a week of intermittant thunderstorms, and now every evening she looks up at the sky through the windows as if in terror. And leans against us a bunch. It's pretty sad.

I put out a lot of #BackyardWildlife feed, for Linusβs entertainment & my own.
Iβve posted some videos here including the #NorthernFlicker #Woodpecker mating dance, & a bunch with #squirrels, #chipmunks & #birds getting up close & personal with my super-mellow old man #Linus. Here are a few more.

My husband asked me what to do?
I told him that he was right in the middle of a conundrum.
Yep.
He is.
Summer is sound asleep.
Disturbing her peaceful slumber isn't really an option.
He asks how long I think she will sleep?
I said probably until you move.
I was wrong.
He eased off the end of the sofa while sliding a pillow under her head.
Just like we used to do with the grandkids.
She kept sleeping.
Such a sweet friend she is.
We obviously love and cherish her.
I think she knows.

Whenever we board #SqueakyPete, we always buy cuddle time as an add-on service because he's both high strung and very affectionate, and cuddle time helps him adjust. We just got this pic of the big galoot today. #mastodogs #dogsofmastodon

We had to keep our adventure short and sweet today.
Instead of spending an hour hiking to the beach we went to the marsh on the shore of Humboldt Bay and chased sticks until we couldn't chase any more.
Most of the shoreline was in the fog.
The sun followed us though.
We felt special.
Good morning, Mastodon.

She was my best friend.
Cookie, born 01 Oct 2009 in Damansara Uptown, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. Died 20 June 2024 in the Tenderloin, San Francisco, California. She loved adventures and naps equally. She ate delicious food daily. She slept on multiple soft pillows and blankets everywhere. She walked, climbed, ran, and she finally lay down to sleep in my arms.
My grief is an ocean, but I am glad she got to touch so many lives on the Internet, and everywhere she went.
