New instance so I guess new intro? I haven't done one in years, so here goes...

Dad x2 (teen and a toddler 😳) Happy and devoted husband to @jillianmarisa. Liberal. Enthusiastic Missouri Master Naturalist and somehow President of the KC chapter. 🤷‍♂️

Tootin' since 2022. Mastodon made me a Linux-using, #fedifirst, FOSS evangelist.

I dig: Conservation + naturalist topics, photography (mostly birds these days) postcards 'n travel. Leader @ a Conglom-O Corp thankfully doing tech that isn't evil.

Washed up travel influencer. I still help run @AirlineReporter & host a Mastodon community of travel/airplane geeks @ AvGeek.Social.

Growing a family, chickens and multiple gardens while renovating my childhood home: Grandpa's 1960 house here in beautiful Lee’s Summit, MO, US (KC-metro)

On one of my last excursions, I found an area with several viburnum species of some kind--I hope a native one! Really hoping it's either blackhaw (V. prunifolium) or maybe nannyberry (V. lentago.) I think the leaf shape leans more blackhaw, but it could also be some invasive or escaped ornamental viburnum. I'll have to mark these and check back on them. #nature #foraging #nativeplants #gardening #zone6b #zone7a

Trees are starting to leaf out and flower one by one in my area, and I'm using the opportunity to try to learn them a little bit better. Turns out we have some pretty linden/American basswood/Tilleul americana relatively close by! I had enjoyed purchased linden leaves and flowers as tea before, but got a chance to try brewing fresh leaves. They are pretty nice. Maybe I can harvest some blooms in June this year. #nature #foraging #zone6b #zone7a #nativeplants
