and russian provocations to escalate is simply handled like you handle any aggressive drunk in a bar looking for a fight: ignore the asshole. yes, the provocations help #rightWing political elements in #europe by allowing them to amplify #fear. but the dividend goes down as the #kremlin threat becomes obviously toothless to more and more people as time goes on. more and more, people just don't fear #russia anymore

NATO is not stupid, it understands the game
but the average citizen of #romania/ #moldova/ #europe (anywhere really) does not understand it
they see an attack, and they see "no response." and meanwhile their #socialMedia feed and their #propaganda channels are blowing up their #fear response, and they will turn to the strident, angry, lying voices on the right for "safety"

#MaslowsHierarchyOfNeeds has #safety near its base, a #psychological foundation. if defiled, that opens up avenues for #anxiety, #fear, #anger. and in turn, games for mischief from #rightWing con artists who promise "safety"
for many romanians, moldovans, or europeans (anyone in any society really), the malicious can knock on this pillar of safety, then little fearful voices in traditional and #socialMedia do their thing, amplify fear and lies, and move citizens to the right politically

it doesn't matter if russian #drones are unaddressed. #fear operates on other topics the #rightWing #politician can amplify and manufacture. drones take away a sense of #security, the liar promises "security" on some other topic
it doesn't work logically, it works emotionally
people want and need safety, even if just a feeling. right wing rhetoric endlessly harps on any topic that people can be tricked into feeling unsafe on. then they making grandiose promises about it
