There's some nuance missing here. There are two main reasons these folks work for the government.

Latine folks who work for #CBP, #ICE, etc. consider themselves #Americans, and their attitude tends to be similar to #suburban #white / #anglo #Texans; they are #legal. They are nth-generation Americans because where their ancestors lived became part of the #US — especially in #Texas #Florida, #California, #Arizona, and #NewMexico.

The other reason is that people from many South- and Central-American countries fall under the Latine/Latinx/Latino/Hispanic umbrella. Folks with Mexican heritage can totally want to deport gamg members from other Spanish-speaking countries.

It's a self-image thing. You and I and the US Census may consider them to be Latine, but they see themselves as Americans.

I'm not excusing anyone. #ACAB

This is part of the 1% agenda of creating division.

US Senator warns of #Trump admin plan to hastily remove over 500 unaccompanied #immigrant #children

A Democratic US senator warns the Trump admin is getting ready to round up 500 immigrant children in a hasty effort to remove them from the country, bypassing #legal protections. It would be their second attempt after a federal court intervened last year in an overnight plan to fly out hundreds of children on Labor Day weekend.

LA Times: O.C. immigration attorneys suspended for filing briefs filled with AI-hallucinated errors

"...The ruling was clear that the discipline wasn’t issued simply for the use of AI, but “due to their filing of briefs containing multiple nonexistent cases, misattributed quotations, and gross misrepresentations of real cases, and due to their lack of candor in revealing that these fabrications and inaccuracies were the result of hallucinations by generative AI.”...

Excellent legal work by these folks, apparently.

"...Represented by the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression and Phillips & Phillips, PLLC, Larry Bushart filed a federal civil rights lawsuit last December against Sheriff Nick Weems, Investigator Jason Morrow, and Perry County, Tennessee, for violating his constitutional rights in retaliation for his protected speech.

Today, the parties announced in a joint statement that Larry will receive $835,000 in exchange for dismissing his complaint. ..."

NEW: Stories about pardons are often told as stories about presidential power — who had access, who persuaded a president to intervene. But what drew reporter Jeremy Kohler to this story was the people on the other side of that act of grace.

Just a reminder that one of my great joys in life is reading an opinion by a thoroughly angry judge, and today's decision on the Kennedy Declaration is absolutely full of that. Ahh, the delicious, nutritious rage.

No idea, but curious on if this was a non-US citizen, is the baby considered "born in the United States" if the plane was in US airspace? 🤔

ie is a plane considered "the United States" based on its position in the air, or?

(nonwithstanding the racist garbage in the SCOTUS about birthright citizenship.)
