Hank Green is extremely deferential to authority in general. His old videos on anti-vaxxers show this. He has a tendency to consider people who don't defer to authority as irrational. In the case of anti-vaxxers, his blind deference led him to correct positions. In the case of AI, it led him to incorrect positions. We must stop "trusting the experts" & start critically evaluating studies & their methodology. I trust reliable evidence like well-conducted studies on all-cause mortality. These happen to be mostly made by "the experts", but "the experts" also say nonsense if given enough money. I trust someone with no credentials writing in a peer reviewed journal more than a PhD with 30 years of experience speaking on a podcast.
