FOD walked the field behind my neighbor's house. Her yard care people threw a lot (lot!) of fist-sized rocks off her yard into the field, quite hazardous for next year's brush clearance. They've been doing it with a tractor, and already there have been two (2) wildfires here due to brush clearance, tractor with a brush hog hitting rocks. (the #SandyFire and #LesserFire). #wildfires #disasterpreparedness

Concerns about a column building somewhere in the direction of Santa Paula peak. Las Padras Peak / Bearhaven. Asking for investigation, in case it is not the fire in Ventucopa. Possible new start. 5/20/26 1757 #SandyFire #wildfires #SimiValley

Chatter they are using to abate east side of Runkle Canyon, avoid powerlines. Discussion about taking fire direct on east side of Runkle. (ie they are going to try to put out fires directly on that side). Expected it will be west side of Runkle tonight. 5/20/26 1657 #SandyFire #wildfires #SimiValley

Anyway, fire has not reached the Santa Susana Field Laboratory and its many chemicals and all that. (apparently a bunch of groundwater contamination with nasty stuff over that direction). The helicopter is dropping water at Runkle Fire Road and Albertson Fire Road.

Current area of work by helicopters on the Sandy Fire. Not hearing a lot of activity except helicopters going back and forth, indicating all resources where they need to be. Winds are expected to remain the same until about midnight, then turn back to the west, although not very strong, thankfully. #SandyFire

the one house that’s so far burned down in the #sandyfire had a few cars on the same side as the fire came up the slope. Noticed a cool looking Corvette stingray just getting ignored….

Request for HT47 (helitanker 47). They are going to inquire on status, they were "deconning" and planning on coming back to the fire earlier. 5/20/26 1443 #SandyFire #wildfires #SimiValley

Lots of evacuation order changes on the western side of Simi Valley - SIMI-33 split into a number of new zones, with SIMI-33A under evacuation Order, 33B under Evacuation Warning, SIMI-33C under Evacution Advisory Lifted. A large area of Simi under SIMI-33 is again Evacuation Order.

Sandy Fire currently pushing smoke into western Simi, Moorpark, Somis. Opened up the windows before it gets warm in my are as we've got a brief respite from the smoke. (still running the Corsi Rosenthals though, I can still smell traces of smoke particles, despite the low PM2.5 readings) 5/20/26 0715 #SandyFire #VenturaCounty #SimiValley #LosAngelesCounty

Winds mostly moderate tonight for the #SandyFire, 5-7 mph winds and occasional gusts to 10mph. Very cool. So, likely uneventful, hopefully the firefighters can keep it in the perimeter and this will run out of steam tomorrow. (will not be maintaining watch overnight, due to lack of Red Flag conditions, no wind). The main areas of concern were around the Brandeis/Rocketdyne area of Simi Valley. (so, not much of an issue unless you're a nuclear mutant hiding in the remains of the old nuclear power plant ;-) #SandyFire

Fire spot may have passed Arnaz Fire. Road, but they are not sure. It's not doing much at the moment, deep in smoke. Crews working at Brandeis. 5/19/26 1809 #SandyFire #Simi

Map of area. (Random: Sometime after midnight last night there was some kind of kerfuffle involving Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept (?) lights and sirens ordering an evacuation of Brandeis, but no such order coming from Incident Command... everything was handled by phone call. I believe that is Simi Valley PD territory, but no idea. Anyway, it sounded like a kerfuffle, no idea if evacs happened or not. ) 5/19/26 1657 #SandyFire #Simi
