If the business models fail (bubble bursts), much of the push to insert LLMs / agentic into everything everywhere will vanish without the funding, while simultaneously the costs of LLMs / agentic will skyrocket without the subsidies
LLMs / agentic will become a pedestrian part of the AI field, used in the specialised cases where they're useful
Not a peep from you since this last post, #EFF. I know it's usual for the people who run #tech social-media accounts to be craven and cowardly about "negativity" from the public but I would like you to behave in a slightly more adult fashion if possible.
Would you please acknowledge that the #GenAI fad is a destructive force and not a "transformative" one, @eff ?
on Android the yt app is getting noticably more buggy. Sound stops working. Or picture freezes while sound continue to play. Not loading anything at all... Etc etc I am often restarting the app to get it to work
I WONDER WHAT CHANGED IN THE DEV WORKFLOWS RECENTLY.... OH WAIT #genAI
> I’m extremely skeptical of the idea that LLMs make any significant positive contribution to the long-term speed or cost of writing •good• software, but they clearly have the potential to lower the floor for •bad• software to unheard-of levels at unheard-of speeds

"every single warning that paper made about large language models has now happened at scale"
1. The hallucination problem before anyone had a word for it.
2. Bias amplification
3. Environmental cost
4. Documentation — the training datasets being assembled were too large for anyone to actually audit

Developers of Party Animals announce an AI video contest - game gets a review bomb
Talk about not reading the room right? Party Animals developers Recreate Games recently announced an AI video contest and it went down like a lead balloon.Liam Squires-Hand (GamingOnLinux)
I was only made aware of this (frankly awesome) case of LLM poisoning today: nature.com/articles/d41586-026…. A researcher made up a disease and published two evidently fake preprints about it (including sentences such as “this entire paper is made up” and “Fifty made-up individuals aged between 20 and 50 years were recruited for the exposure group”), which were almost immediately picked up by LLMs and documented in their output. Worse, actual – supposedly serious – medical papers also started citing the preprints, demonstrating that academics relying on LLMs to do their work is a genuine problem! Not that I had my doubts but, if anyone did, this seems like the perfect demonstration of the problem. Article immediately added to the syllabus of the class I am co-teaching with Iris Ferrazzo on LLMs for Romance Studies/Humanities!

Scientists invented a fake disease. AI told people it was real
Bixonimania doesn’t exist except in a clutch of obviously bogus academic papers. So why did AI chatbots warn people about this fictional illness?Stokel-Walker, Chris
Did anyone get a copy of this model and see how they implemented malware? That seems like a cool project.

🚀 We just sent a team of humans to the moon and safely home.
Not one bit of generative AI was used or needed.
You don't need it in your office or organization, either.
We can do great things without pillaging public resources and funds for a scam.

Well said. Exactly correct.
#GenAI answers by pattern matching by frequency of occurrence in the data. If most people get it wrong, the answer is wrong. Nuance and validity are not a criteria unless that's frequently found. #LLMs trained on the Internet—you will never find a more wretched hive of DATA scum and villainy—spout only the opinion and spin they find, as what is more frequently found than that?
