corporate #socialMedia is about making money

this has two terrible effects:

1. #moderation is a cost center for them. if you want to make money, you want to cut costs. therefore, it's cheaper for them to say "freeze peach!", decimate the #mod dept, and let #bigotry and #disinfo run wild

2. we say "don't feed the #trolls" but the unfortunate human baseline behavior is that controversy drives clicks, eyeballs, engagement. therefore, bigots and disinfo is *profitable*

' #Greece to ban #anonymity on #socialMedia

"The major problem behind anonymity is toxicity," argues digital governance minister'

They are correct: anonymity is a vector for #trolls, #harassment, #bigotry, and other antisocial behavior

So the solution is #moderation

The solution is not driving vulnerable people off social media

Greek government: you ignoramuses
