Children can now be put in camps. The far-right cheers and chants "send them back" after the vote on the 'return regulation'. This is not our Europe.

The whole crisis narrative has gone too far.

The Europe we believe in and fight for is all about human rights and dignity. We should return to those values.

Join the fight for a different Europe!

I wonder what will be the next major driver of #migration to the #Fediverse? X/Musk does something that drives away users, or governments? It catches on at last in the EU? Bluesky blows up? #Loops⁩ goes viral? Facebook shuts down? #Threads makes sharing the default?

Many features people complained were lacking years ago are now in place, but it doesn't feel as if the Fediverse is growing much overall, ⁨https://fedidb.com/⁩ .

The Bear sums up the great Right wing hypocrisy in their 'discussion' of migration - its not the issue of migration that's the underlying problem, its who the migrants are... and of course we knew this, but good to have ti so summarily laid out!

(one might also see this instructive on why right wing 'ex-pats' who voted for Brexit, then were surprised to discover the EU was no longer quite so welcoming to their residency preferences).

‘I don’t have a life’: man sent to France in ‘one in, one out’ refugee scheme tells of return to UK theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/m… #ImmigrationAndAsylum #Refugees #UkNews #France #HomeOffice #Migration #Belgium #England

There seems to have been a major fall in net-migration into the UK over the last year but around half of voters think its still rising.

The news media have underplayed or ignored such reductions, but equally, given the data is estimated by the Office of National Statistics (whose reputation for accuracy has been severely damaged in the last years), media outlets may have a (half) plausible argument for discounting such figures.

The ONS' problems ripple outwards.
