I'm thinking a federated wiki type service with a trust metric that allows more trusted users to moderate/curate edits.
We could expand this beyond related hashtags.

If the fediverse wants people to come, we need to build features like this they want.Metrics are vain, but for organizations and even government, this gives them more insight into their account and reach.

This is exactly where the @EUCommission's bragging about W Social completely misses the point ... A possibility to collaborate on something bigger than themselves, a truly connected fediverse community - which impacts so much more than just their own "local" needs.
#EU should know about the #fediverse due their presence here. Still they started promoting something which only benefits the few in the very end.
This is a shout out to the Dutch government, putting the money (their investment into the fediverse) in a place where it ends up adding improvements for so many more people than they probably expected. If all European governments would be equally brave, we would be fully sovereign on so many levels with a far lower cost for everyone.
You cannot truly create anything benefiting the public at large by putting money into a for-profit organisation. That will primarily benefit the for-profit organisation first of all.
Don't get me wrong, a lot of fediverse developers do not want millions of users, they are designing their software carefully for them and people like them.
I'm a dreamer, and love to think bigger, and build platforms with millions and even billions of people.
Both types of devs and projects can thrive, because we give the people control and power.
That is what matters, nobody can control this, not even me or mastodon.social.

If someone told me pixelfed.social would overtake mastodon.social in MAU in early 2025, I wouldn't have believed them.

The math on media is likewise, broken.
Zuckerberg sold out his users data to Cambridge Analytica, influencing the US election. Then he appeared before Congress like a contrite little schoolboy - "Oops! I didn't mean to accidentally cut multibillion dollar deals and sell out Facebook users. Honest mistake. I promise not to do it again ( unless the price is right! )"
Because of the math, he still came out ahead.
I left Meta's platforms a long time ago.
Having liberated ourselves, it is our duty to liberate others, who are still trapped, to give them their right to privacy.
People who are not savvy, are locked into the #Facebook walled garden, because of the Network Effect. ( "I can't leave Facebook. All my friends are on Facebook!" )
Here's a plan of action:
1) Place ads on Facebook, explaining the benefits of #Mastodon. 1. Freedom from Meta's censorship and algorithms. 2. A community owned, open social media platform.
2) When a user clicks, guide them through exporting their data from Facebook, and deleting their Facebook account.
3) Give them an optional questionnaire, asking about their interests, and match them with the right Mastodon instance.
4) If they skip the optional questionnaire, pick a random Mastodon instance for them.
5) Give them an option to enter into a Facebook migration registry.
6) Help them set up a Mastodon account and import their data.
7) If they opted into the migrant registry, reconnect them with their former Facebook connections, who also joined the registry. Like a reunion in Heaven with your loved ones. ☺️

I need a (likely, magnetic drive northridgepumps.com/article-36… ) pump to pressurize water from 4 rain barrels to deliver to my garden's drip irrigation system. Not sure how much pump capacity or pressure or flow I need, so many variables - I looked at Grainger and McMaster-Carr, but TMI 🤷
Once I get the pump, everything else should be simple valve/hose fitting hookups and a timer.
Garden info: Beds are about 1.5' drop, 20 to 80 foot run via garden hose and 1/2" drip line trunk into 1/4" drippers every 12" for ~250 plants.

Many of the features people wanted have always been available in the Fediverse, just not on Mastodon, and many that other services offer are still missing there.
The sole focus on Mastodon alone is a mistake that all Mastodon enthusiasts make, rather than promoting the Fediverse as a whole.
According to studies, only 10% use short-form messaging services; the rest use Instagram and TikTok.
However, I don’t see any mention of Loops, Pixelfed, Friendica, etc. from Mastodon users or in all the campaigns. Unfortunately, you’re silenced there.
These people tend to stand in the way of the Fediverse as a disruptive factor.
The repost / boost actually work in Vernissage, unlike Pixelfed !
I wonder what will be the next major driver of #migration to the #Fediverse? X/Musk does something that drives away users, or governments? It catches on at last in the EU? Bluesky blows up? #Loops goes viral? Facebook shuts down? #Threads makes sharing the default?

Before I ship this, I'd like to discuss it with @evan so we can consolidate our resources for this.
but we all know the real reason is the tiny, tiny extra friction in the onboarding process and comprehending instances inherent in federation (as in #fediverse) and moreover, understanding the internet as a network and not as a walled garden controlled by a company, or walled hellscape as is increasingly the case.
