LA Times: ‘This is terrifying’: The Colorado River, a lifeline for seven states, is drying up at its source
" In the Rocky Mountains, where the Colorado River starts, the landscape is drier than anyone can remember.
The lack of water is hitting Colorado ranchers and farmers hard, and reservoir levels are dropping. Scientists say the entire Southwest needs to permanently adapt to having less water as the warming climate dries out the region. .."

"A Farmer Donated Land to Turn into a Park. The City Is Building a Massive Data Center Instead."

Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation is calling for a federal environmental impact assessment on Kevin O’Leary’s Wonder Valley project after a study suggests the 9 GW data centre and power plant could release massive amounts of heat in an area already struggling with drought.
The scientist who did the study called the new class of hyperscale AI data centres “Gigascale AI Smelters, smelting data and material strip-mined from people and planet.”
The report was released just as the first Wonder Valley open house was held near Grande Prairie and dozens of people showed up with questions and concerns.
The project was announced in December of 2024 but has been stalled since then. Now, it appears to be moving forward, despite concerns of local First Nations.

Leidy asked anyone with information about the driver to contact Inyo’s dispatch at 760-873-2405...."

Why is that? Are we missing something, or is there a better way to connect with people who share our interests and values on the #Fediverse if their posts are not appearing in our feed?
We would appreciate any advice from more experienced #Fediverse users.
