" #Australia and #NewZealand could follow #Canada into associated #EU membership, #Metsola tells Euronews"

It seems EU is becoming #Eurovision 😆

#Europe

I routinely see commonalities among advocacy groups for vulnerable populations - in healthcare, social support, fighting racism, climate change and more.

Too often these issues become siloed (usually by design) when they're part of the same fight.

Does anyone know of writers/ thinkers in this area that are looking at cross-sector collaboration, vulnerability theory, or related issues?

I'm thinking of starting some conversations/articles/podxasts in this area.

This week I've been mainly reading, no. 296.

Jill Trevelyan's biography, Rita Angus: An artist’s life (2008/2020) celebrates a New Zealand artist, hardly known in Europe but a major influence on modernism in NZ. Trevelyan allows Angus to speak for herself a lot of the time, but also sets her into the context of the growing NZ art world well. Well-illustrated & unfussily written this is a great way of familiarising yourself with Angus's fascinating work.

"#NewZealand MPs who performed #haka in parliament given unprecedented punishment

#TePātiMāori co-leaders and youngest member to be temporarily suspended from #parliament after performance protesting controversial bill"

The bill in question (the #TreatyPrinciplesBill) wanted to reinterpret the #TreatyOfWaitangi (1840), which upholds #Māori rights

The bill was defeated

I think the proper response to a bullshit punishment for protecting #MāoriRights is a lot more hakas

Kākāpō chick! So good to see. They are critically endangered and only breed every couple of years.

BOOM!
South Australia's power prices have plummeted as they near 100% renewables, proving to the world that relying on wind and solar with battery back-up is possible, more reliable and costs people less.

THIS is how we avoid the next oil crisis.

I don't understand this

#Germany's reckoning for #WWII was large

But #Japan's was not

Thus Japan continues to have issues on the topic

But it's just so fucking stupid. There's nothing to gain from an incomplete reckoning

It's just so nasty

" #NewZealand ‘ #comfortWomen’ statue could jeopardise diplomatic relations, Japan says

Planned statue symbolising the #women forced by Japan into sexual slavery during the second world war has raised the ire of Tokyo’s embassy"
